Food Cravings
Food Cravings
Food cravings can be so frustrating but can have an interesting root cause. Many women we see are trying their best to look after their health, and especially to manage their weight. And yet they habitually find themselves arm-deep in a packet of ‘sharing’ crisps, or halfway through a large bar of chocolate without even realising. Or maybe they get to the supermarket checkout with a Danish pastry having only gone in for some veg.
Whilst enjoying delicious snacks is perfectly acceptable, those unhelpful and regular food cravings can tell you a lot about your underlying health. And by learning how to work with your physiology, you can really put them in their place.
Food cravings can be a manifestation of hormone fluctuations and imbalances, issues with blood glucose such as insulin resistance, nutrient deficiencies and poor gut health, as well as a reflection of our state of mind and stress levels.
How We Can Help You
At The Prior Clinic we carry out a 360-degree review of your health history, diet and lifestyle, and any lurking imbalances that might be at the root of your food cravings. This helps us to pinpoint the root cause of your symptoms, so you can address them and support your health.
We then work with you to create a fully customised care plan that will include nutrition and lifestyle changes, and nutritional supplements where appropriate. If we feel that testing could help us pinpoint underlying imbalances and root causes, we’ll recommend those too.
