Genetic Health Testing

Nutrigenomics is a relatively new science that looks at how our nutrition and lifestyle patterns affect our genetic expression, our ‘epigenetics’.

Our DNA affects every single function in our body and we are all different. We all have variations in our genetic code that impacts on how our bodies work, our own map of our biological strengths and weaknesses. What we eat, drink and do, and what we are exposed to in our environment can affect the expression of these genetic variations, either positively or negatively.

Genetic testing can provide insight into how our body actually functions, and how the individual variations in our DNA could be impacting our energy, hormone balance, mood, detoxification or play a role in specific health conditions.

Whilst we can’t change our genes, we can use the latest scientific evidence to make positive changes that support and optimise our health and wellbeing, alongside a full review of your symptoms and health history.

We work with UK-based LifecodeGX who offer targeted testing alongside powerful nutrigenomic reports to help us interpret your results. This is a hugely complex area and LifecodeGX provide a brilliant tool that helps us filter out what is important based on latest nutrition and lifestyle science.

Our Key Reports Include:

- Nutrient Core – This test is aimed at general wellbeing and analyses gene variants that impact your appetite control, blood glucose balance, vitamin and mineral requirements, ability to detoxify, circadian rhythm and why you may be prone to inflammation and infection, as well as core food intolerances (and tolerance)

- Metabolics Report – We suggest this if you want to understand in more detail how your genes could be impacting your weight balance, energy production, appetite control, and how you process fats and sugars.

- Hormones Report – This test assesses genes involved in the formation, balance and processing of our key steroid hormones (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol and DHEA). Hormone imbalances can show up as mood swings, PCOS, acne, low libido, weight gain and fat tissue distribution. This makes it a useful tool in menopause for anyone with symptoms and for both HRT users and non-users.

We will either recommend these tests as part of your consultation package, or you have the option to undertake the test alongside 1 consultation to discuss your results.
